UNTRUSTWORTHY MANAGEMENT, LIES ABOUT REFUNDS. We recently made a purchase with RentACenter to temporarily place us with some furniture while we searched elsewhere for permanent stock. However, we found a (much) better deal elsewhere (out of respect for business, I won't say where in this review) and cancelled our order before it was intended to be delivered. No mention of a refund was made at this time, nor was there any mention of the fact that we had to visit RentACenter in-person in order to receive the refund. Instead, we were told to wait 3 - 5 business days for the refund to be placed back into our account. We waited for a while, but it did not appear. Normally, I would simply trust a business to keep its promise, but something felt wrong, so we called again to ensure we would receive the refund in full. This is when they told us we had to visit the site in-person to receive our full refund. We did this several times, but each time the manager was "out for the day", even though we had called only minutes before arriving to ensure we would be able to receive our refund. At this point, we were extremely frustrated and felt as though we had been swindled, almost willing to give up hundreds of dollars out of sheer annoyance. But we pressed on and visited them again as early as possible. We were patient and waited nearly an hour for the manager to finally come and see us. Finally, he came to see us and explained that we had waited too long and could not receive a refund on our initial deposit. We were obviously upset by this and explained very clearly this was unacceptable, since we had both called and visited in-person on several occasions. Finally, he gave in and explained that he could only give us a couple hundred dollars instead of our full refund, taking out a certain amount of money for each day we were late in requesting the refund. This was very upsetting. We had no intention of paying for furniture we had never even seen, since we were so careful to cancel our order before delivery! (In addition to this, management had promised us prior to this day that we could return the furniture for a full refund any time within 7 days of initially receiving it.) After making a fuss in the RentACenter facility, threatening to call the corporate office to file a complaint, something we wish we'd never have to do, the manager finally obliged. He went into a back room, was very rude to us, grumbled, and finally came out and agreed and said simply, "Swipe your card." His final words to us were, "This makes me look bad to corporate." I am waiting until the refund fully posts to my account before posting this review. I do not trust this RentACenter at all any more. This is a shame, because we only went there this time around because last year, the staff were very polite.
